Looking Forward

It’s safe to say that 2020 wasn’t the year anyone expected. The pandemic severely altered our daily lives, from health concerns to changes in work and school. Rather than dwell on the negative, we can officially say hindsight is 2020 and choose to stay positive as we move forward into 2021. Together, let’s create and enjoy a “Nourishing New Year” where we highlight the benefits of eating right and staying healthy. We want to also showcase ways to use our member benefit partners to save you money and offer you ideas on how to celebrate National Ag Week. As the sun shines down, a herd of young calves and their mothers gather around a pond tucked away in a Buffalo County pasture. The scene is a small piece of heaven that Alec and Meredith Ibach like to call home. They are the fifth generation on the family farm and ranch near Sumner, raising corn, soybeans, and beef cattle. After starting his career with Farm Credit Services, Alec returned to the farm in 2018 with a mission to continue and grow his family’s legacy.

Nebraska’s farmers and ranchers grow crops and raise livestock to provide many choices for families across Nebraska at each meal. The food they grow is a part of agriculture. National Agriculture Week is March 21-27, 2021! Celebrate with these fun activities to download for the whole family!

On a small acreage outside of Syracuse, in the distance you can hear the buzz of working bees making honey. Lois Linke enjoys living in the country and, as a former teacher turned beekeeper, she looks forward to seeing the bees dance from her flower and vegetable garden to their hives gathering nectar and working until the mid-August honey harvest.

Brandon, Jessi, and son Reed Doke raise bees not just for honey, but to use beeswax for therapeutic purposes. Beeswax is a sustainable, renewable resource made by bees. Versatile, beeswax is a popular item that's been finding its way into skincare, haircare, and aromatherapy products.

As we move into the fall of 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic still upon us, it is a year like no other. Students may or may not be back in the classroom and we all may be either working from home or may be back at the office. But one thing you can count on is that Nebraska farmers are working, getting ready for an early harvest.
